You're about to pay to throw away furniture we'd buy

If you searched for office junk removal, a commercial cleanout, or office movers in Austin, here's the comparison nobody else will show you.

How you clear the office What it costs you What happens to the furniture
Junk removal company
Half truckload, Austin market rate
$200 – $395 Most of it goes to a landfill or transfer station. You're paying for labor plus the dump fee.
Per-item hauling service
Typical 10-desk office
$340 – $920 Priced per piece. Indoor removal and cubicle teardown are usually add-ons.
Full-truck commercial cleanout $590 – $785 Larger offices hit full-truckload pricing fast, then repeat it per load.
Office decommissioning service $1,000 – $5,000+ Thorough, but it's a project fee stacked on top of disposal costs.
Adding it to your movers' quote Billed by weight & volume You pay your movers to transport furniture you may not even want in the new space.
Fresh Start Furniture Co We pay you.
Clearout is free.
We refurbish it and resell it in our Austin showroom. It stays out of the landfill.

Austin junk removal figures per Angi's Austin junk removal cost data (average $190; half truckload $200–$395; full truckload $590–$785). Per-item and decommissioning ranges per Dropcurb's 2026 office furniture disposal cost guide. Get current quotes before relying on any number here.

Why we can pay when they charge. A junk hauler's business is billing you and dumping it. A moving company's business is billing you by the pound. Ours is refurbishing office furniture and reselling it in Austin — so the same desks and chairs someone else wants to charge you to remove are inventory to us. We still bring the truck, the crew, and the tools.

What we buy — and what we don't

Stated plainly so you're not waiting on a quote for something we can't resell.

We make offers on

  • Task & executive chairs — Herman Miller, Steelcase, Haworth, Knoll, HON, 9to5, Sit On It
  • Sit-stand & standing desks — Herman Miller Renew, Motia, Autonomous, Juniper Office
  • Desks & workstations — L-shaped, U-shaped, benching, training tables
  • Cubicles & panel systems — we do the teardown
  • Filing & storage — lateral, vertical, mobile pedestals, Steelcase storage
  • Conference tables, reception desks, guest & waiting-room seating
  • Breakroom tables, barstools, lounge seating in good condition

We pass on

  • Structural damage, deep tears, heavy staining
  • Water-damaged or mold-affected pieces
  • Particleboard that's swollen or delaminating
  • Electronics, monitors, IT equipment
  • Documents or anything needing secure destruction
  • Loose supplies and general trash

Mixed clearout? Tell us. We'll usually buy the resellable pieces and handle the rest through our removal partner, so it's still one call.

Just need it gone?

Sometimes the resale value isn't worth the back-and-forth — the deadline is tight, or most of what's left is genuinely junk. We'll handle the whole clearout through our removal partner. One call, one point of contact, one invoice, and we stand behind the job.

Tell us your deadline and we'll tell you straight whether we can hit it. If your furniture does have resale value, we'll say so — you shouldn't pay to remove something we'd buy.

Talk to us about a full clearout

Large office cleanouts and cubicle removal

Whole floors, multi-suite buildings, and 50+ workstation clearouts.

Volume works in your favor here, not against you. A junk removal company charges you more per truckload the more you have. We're the opposite — a floor of forty matching workstations or thirty identical task chairs is more valuable to us than a mixed dozen, because we can merchandise it as a set. Big clearouts often get the strongest offers we make.

For larger jobs we handle:

  • Cubicle and panel-system teardown — breakdown, wrap, and load, no prep needed from you
  • Multi-load and multi-day scheduling so we're not blocking your dock all week
  • After-hours, overnight, and weekend crews to keep out of your team's way
  • Building requirements — certificate of insurance, dock reservations, freight elevator windows, union buildings
  • Lease deadline work — tell us the hand-back date and we'll tell you straight whether we can hit it

Insured and COI-ready. We carry commercial liability insurance and provide a certificate of insurance (COI) on request for your building or property manager.

Recent clearouts

A few of the larger jobs we've cleared, straight from the floor. Our largest single clearout to date ran 140 workstations.

90-workstation office clearout with white sit-stand desks and privacy panels
90-workstation behavioral-health clinic — sit-stand desks and glass privacy panels
Rows of mobile pedestal file cabinets from a 140-person office
140-person analytics office — desks, task chairs, and mobile pedestals removed
Maple workstations and mesh task chairs cleared before demolition
Corporate office cleared ahead of demolition — maple workstations and task chairs

Clearing an entire floor or building? For high-volume corporate liquidations we can also structure the purchase as a consignment arrangement — our sales team works with you directly to maximize the return on a large lot.

How it works

Four steps. Most clearouts go from first photo to empty floor inside a week.

  1. Send photosText or email wide shots of the space plus close-ups of any brand-name chairs or desks, with a rough count. No walkthrough needed to get a number — though for large offices we'll happily come look.
  2. Get an offer within one business dayWe tell you what we'll pay, what we'll take for free, and anything we can't accept. Flag your building's access rules and any deadline now and we'll plan around them.
  3. We schedule the pickupSame-day and next-day are often available. We bring the crew, dollies, straps, and the tools to break down panel systems.
  4. We load, you get paidWe do the lifting and leave the space broom-clean.

We pay by cash or ACH, arranged when we schedule your pickup. For large corporate lots, our sales team can also discuss a consignment arrangement.

Moving offices? Call us before you finalize the moving inventory

The three moments this saves the most money.

You're moving to a new office

Commercial movers bill by weight and volume. Every desk you don't take comes off that quote — and if we're buying it, the same decision pays you twice. The mistake is calling us after the moving inventory is locked.

You're downsizing or going hybrid

Half-empty floors of workstations nobody sits at. We'll take the surplus in one pass and pay for what's resellable, so you hand back square footage without a disposal line item.

You're closing a location or handing back a lease

Most commercial leases require the space returned empty by a fixed date — which is usually where a $1,000–$5,000+ decommissioning bill shows up. We can often cover the furniture portion of that scope for free and pay you for the good pieces.

Moving companies, brokers & property managers: we partner on furniture disposition. It makes your client's quote cheaper, the turnover faster, and the landfill lighter. Get in touch — we'd like to be your furniture partner on office moves.

What your office furniture is actually worth

A realistic picture, so you know whether this is worth a call.

Resale value depends on brand, model, condition, and quantity. As a general market reference, used ergonomic office chairs commonly resell in the $50–$300 range and metal filing cabinets around $25–$75. What we pay is a share of resale value, since we take on the refurbishment, storage, and selling. Selling just a few home-office pieces instead of a whole office? See our furniture buyback.

  • Brand drives it most. Herman Miller, Steelcase, Haworth, and Knoll hold value far better than unbranded pieces. An Aeron or a Leap V2 earns a real offer even with cosmetic wear.
  • Uniformity is worth more than you'd think. Thirty identical desks beat thirty different ones, because we can sell them as a set.

Questions we get asked

I searched for office junk removal — aren't you a furniture store?

Both, in a sense. We're a refurbished furniture company in Austin, which means we buy office furniture instead of charging to dispose of it — so if your clearout is mostly resellable furniture, we're the cheaper call by a wide margin. And if it isn't, we still handle the removal through our partner. Either way it's one call.

Do you really pay instead of charging for removal?

Yes, when the furniture is resellable. We refurbish and resell office furniture in our Austin showroom, so good-condition desks, chairs, cubicles, and cabinets have real value to us. If a piece isn't resellable we say so upfront rather than build a fee around it.

What if only some of it is worth something?

That's the normal case, and it's fine. We make an offer on the resellable pieces and clear the rest through our removal partner — so you get paid for what has value and still walk away with an empty floor.

How fast can you clear an office?

Often same day or next day, depending on size and your building's access rules. Lease deadlines and move dates are routine for us — give us your date and we'll tell you honestly whether we can hit it.

Do you disassemble cubicles and workstations?

Yes. Panel systems, benching, and workstations are broken down by our crew as part of the pickup. No prep needed from you.

Can you work after hours so you're not disrupting our staff?

Yes. Evenings and weekends are routine for commercial clearouts.

Can you handle a whole floor or a 50+ desk office?

Yes, and large uniform clearouts usually get our strongest offers. We schedule multi-load or multi-day pickups and work with COI requirements, dock reservations, and freight elevator windows.

What happens to the furniture you take?

Resellable pieces are cleaned, repaired, and refurbished, then sold in our Austin showroom. That's the whole model — it keeps usable furniture out of the landfill and it's why we can pay you instead of charging you.

Do you take electronics, files, or general trash?

We don't buy those — we're a furniture buyer, so electronics, documents needing secure destruction, and general waste aren't things we make offers on. Ask anyway: most of it can go in the same clearout through our removal partner. Secure document destruction is the one we'll refer you elsewhere for.

Who actually shows up for a full clearout?

Our removal partner's crew, coordinated by us. You deal with Fresh Start throughout — one point of contact, one invoice — and we're accountable for the job. If we're also buying furniture out of the same space, we'll sequence both so it's a single visit where we can.

How do I get a quote?

Photos are enough to start. Text or email wide shots plus close-ups of brand-name pieces with a rough count, and our sales team will be in touch within one business day. Or fill out the quick quote form.
